Munson Family Genealogy

The Thomas Munson Foundation is a not-for-profit family organization of the descendants of Thomas Munson (1612 – 1685) who established the family in the American colonies. The Foundation was incorporated in 1984 under the laws of the State of Michigan.

ORIGINS OF THE MUNSON CLANS

The current 24 main branches or “clans” of our Munson Family Tree are named for the 4th-generation great-grandchildren of Thomas¹ Munson and who had descendants.

Are you or could you be a twig on one of these branches?

Don’t know your clan?

LIST OF MUNSON FAMILY CLANS

The Thomas Munson Foundation has a Family Historian, and each Clan has a Clan Historian. The Family Historian and the Foundation President work with the TMF Genealogical / Ancestry Computer Records and Reports Committee to maintain the genealogical information regarding persons of each clan, including both lineage and descendants.

THE MUNSON LIBRARY AND MUSEUM

Another goal of the TMF has been to establish and sustain a Munson Library and Museum. Currently, at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where Thomas¹ Munson settled in the 1600’s, there is a Munson Library and Museum with a collection of artifacts from the Munson families. It is curated by the TMF Director for Library and Museum. For more information visit the TMF Facebook page that is managed by the TMF librarian.
